Disciples Community Food Assistance Delivered to Tegeta Community Affected with Floods

In the aftermath of the recent floods that struck Tegeta ward in Dar es Salaam, The floods, which resulted in the loss of two lives, have left Tegeta residents homeless. In a response, Disciples Community mobilized resources to provide essential relief, including food, utensils, clothing, and heartfelt words of encouragement.

Today, on January 26, 2024, the Disciples Community has successfully extended condolences and provided essential Relief such as Food, Utensils, and Clothing. Efforts focused on addressing the immediate needs of the flood-affected families. They distributed food supplies to ensure that no one in Tegeta went hungry in the wake of the disaster. Additionally, utensils and clothing were provided to families who lost their possessions in the floods, offering practical support to help them rebuild their lives. The Disciples Community’s commitment to not just meeting, but anticipating, the needs of the community showcases a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those affected.

Beyond the tangible relief items, Disciples Community recognized the importance of providing emotional support to a community struggling with loss and displacement. Representatives from the Disciples Community engaged with affected individuals, offering words of encouragement and solidarity. This holistic approach to disaster response highlights the Disciple’s dedication to not only addressing immediate material needs but also fostering resilience and a sense of community spirit.

The Disciples Community has offered aid in household items such as plates, bowls, cups, and essential food items, particularly flour, to 20 households most affected by the floods. Additionally, they have provided clothing, including blankets, shoes, dresses, and trousers, to 61 individuals.

Disciples Community initial response has made a significant impact, the challenges faced by the Tegeta community are far from over. There is still a need for school supplies for 41 children whose materials were washed away during the floods. Furthermore, the residents are at risk of disease outbreaks due to contaminated water. Therefore, they have requested water treatment medications and mosquito nets to protect against malaria.

vii. Health insurance for children who lost their mothers
viii. Mosquito nets
